So on to Weed control - in which herbicides play a critical role in our Pond.

This has been the chief culprit.  Cabomba caroliniana, or fanwort.  It doesn't belong here, but it IS here.  And in 2004, and for years before that,until our 2005 pond-wide treatment you could literally stick a fork anywhere in the Pond and come up with a clump of it.
